A family of engineers who first released their dual-drag system in 1997 runs the company, Accurate Fishing Products. They have expanded their product offerings to include more advanced series of reels that include the Blue-Water and light tackle models. These were instant hits among serious saltwater fishing hobbyists, enthusiasts, and sport fishermen.

With the Twin Drag system of the Accurate reels, efficiency is increased because of the balanced or equal pressure that is applied on the two sides of the spool. This results to smoother dragging, with less pressure, and more precise settings.
Accurate reels are also built smaller than their counterparts in the market. With a smaller package, the designers have developed stronger, high-performance reels with the same line capacities. The advantage is that these smaller reels are more comfortable and easy to use.
Small ball bearings were used in the design, with the spool arbor also made smaller in terms of diameter. The arbor was also made stronger with the increase in its radius.
