Shakespeare fishing reels
Shakespeare, JR.Ss company is very rich in terms of its history with reel design and manufacture. Although it manufactured other products such as mortar fuses, auto carburetors, controls for aircrafts, tanks and jeeps, fiberglass radio antennas, pool cues, archery equipment and other fishing gears such as fishing rods, the company still managed to produce fishing reels that have made their mark in the history of fishing.
In 1896, Shakespeare, Jr. designed what is now the common level-wind reel that winds the line back on the spool. In 1939, he invented the “Backlash Brake”, a light action reel brake that prevents the spool from back-lashing. He patented this reel as “Wondereel” which became very popular. In 1953, the company developed the push-button W”Wondercast” spinning reel. At this time, it was already Shakespeare, Jr.s son Henry that was in-change. William died on June 25, 1950. In 1992, Shakespeare re-entered the baitcast market by producing the “Sigma” bait reel as well as the “Microspin” and “Microcast” reels. In 1997, the “EZCast” spincasting reel was introduced to the market and in 1998, it was the round baitcast reels. In year 2000, their “Synergy” spincast reels became very popular in the fishing industry. This brands “New Catera” spinning reels was very much in demand. These Shakespeare fishing reels are great for recreational fishing be it saltwater or frash water fishing.
If this is not 110 years of excellence in the fishing reel industry, then I do not know what it is.
