Daiwa Saltist
Another magnificent creation from Daiwa, the Daiwa Saltist is an exciting new reel designed to deliver a higher level when it comes to performance at a more affordable price. But being more affordable doesn’t necessarily mean that it has been stripped of all the good things that we know and love about Daiwa reels. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The Saltist features what is known as a “full metal jacket” construction as well as being able to really pack in the performance enhancing features which is not commonly seen in reels priced higher than itself. It bears quite a resemblance to the Saltiga and although it isn’t completely machined like its older sib, it does feature a nice metal construction and all of its components are made of metal and designed for maximum reliability. Just like Saltiga, it was also designed to handle the extremely tough braided lines in additional to the traditional mono. In order to eliminate any kind of flex, both the sideplates and the frame are made out of rigid aluminum alloy.
Needless to say, if you liked the ergonomics of the Saltiga, you would surely like the Daiwa Saltist. The layout is quite similar and the full metal jacket construction that the Saltist has provides a refined and rugged feel. As we all know, the Saltiga is a pretty expensive reel but with the introduction of the Saltist, anglers who were not able to buy the Saltiga would now be able to enjoy similar benefits through the Saltist. It would truly give you the best value for your money.
