Salt Water Reel Cleaning

Saltwater fishing is just not about having fun. This also requires discipline on one’s part. Although it may seem very enjoyable and easy when one is just watching, one does not know the things that happen in the background, like cleaning up the boat, preparing the bait and tackle, and cleaning up the fishing rods. Salt water reel cleaning specifically, is one that may be said as something that charter fishing enthusiasts hate the most.
Many fishermen find it boring to clean fishing reels. What most of them will do is to simply buy a new one when the old one gets dirty. They do not realize that this is a waste of money because cleaning a reel is really easy once one gets the hang of it. Of course, charter fishing experts, who happen to have money to waste, will certainly disagree. A trivia worth taking note is that reels will last longer if you do saltwater fishing. Cleaning reels does not have to happen every week. You can clean your reels twice a year.
All you need is a clean towel, a small screw driver, and reel grease. One you are done removing the handle, remove the screws of the reel and then wipe them with the towel and reel grease. You can use a cotton bud or Q-tip to remove excess dirt that your fingers or towel cannot reach. Make sure the plates are also clean. Now you are ready to put them back together and go fishing again.
